Blast at workplace in Izmir kills at least 5 people, injures 63

In Turkey’s Izmir province, an industrial cylinder explosion at a workplace resulted in the deaths of at least five people and injuries to 57 others. The blast caused extensive damage to the street and affected eleven buildings in the neighborhood.

In Agean İzmir province's Torbalı district, an industrial cylinder on June 30 exploded in a restaurant, killing three people on the spot and two person later in the hospital.

İzmir Mayor Cemil Tugay stated that 63 injured people were taken to hospitals for treatment.

İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban, the explosion caused significant damage to the street and affected at least 11 buildings in the neighborhood. 

The street was reportedly one of the busiest ones in the district and the blast occurred at 3 p.m. (local time) when the pedestrian traffic was high.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya also shared the footage of explosion on X.

〔即時新聞／綜合報導〕位在土耳其西部伊茲米爾市（Izmir），昨（30）日發生一起氣爆事故，一間餐廳的瓦斯桶因不明原因，發生嚴重爆炸，威力之大連幾公里外都感受得到，造成5死、63傷。當局表示，他們已逮捕一名為餐廳換新瓦斯桶的嫌疑犯。

綜合外媒報導，這起事故發生在伊茲米爾市以南的托巴里鎮（Torbali），從監視器畫面顯示，一間餐廳的店面突然發生強烈爆炸，不但殃及路過的車輛，還炸毀周邊好幾棟建築物的外牆，許多汽車的窗戶也都震碎，現場滿目瘡痍。

土耳其內政部長耶里卡亞（Ali Yerlikaya）表示，這起爆炸事故起因，是一間餐廳內的一桶瓦斯桶爆炸導致，目前當地警消還在調查爆炸起因，另外警方已先逮捕一名嫌疑犯，因為他在29日剛為爆炸餐廳更換新的瓦斯桶。

報導指出，目前當局已出動十幾名救難人員，前往現場支援。
