（路透墨西哥市1日電）墨西哥警方今天表示，中部伊拉壩托市（Irapuato）一處戒毒所遭持槍歹徒攻擊，造成至少24人死亡。

瓜納華托州（Guanajuato）警方表示，持槍歹徒也造成7人受傷，這是伊拉壩托市過去一個月來第2次類似攻擊。

這也是墨西哥總統羅培茲歐布拉多（Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador）19個月前上任並承諾將降低創新高的暴力衝突以來，境內最嚴重的大屠殺事件之一。

At Least 24 Killed in Attack on Drug Rehab Center in Mexico, Police Say

No motive was given in the attack, but Guanajuato Gov. Diego Sinhue said drug gangs appear to have been involved

Gunmen burst into an unregistered drug rehabilitation center in Mexico and opened fire Wednesday, killing at least 24 people and wounding several others, according to the city of Irapuato Security Secretariat.

Officials in the north-central state of Guanajuato said the attack occurred Wednesday afternoon in Irapuato.

The attackers seemingly shot everyone at the rehab center and no one was abducted, state police said. Photos purporting to show the scene suggest those at the center were lying down when they were sprayed with bullets.

Irapuato Mayor Ricardo Ortiz Gutiérrez on Twitter confirmed the "devious attack" and called for authorities to work together, without confrontation, so that the city and Mexico as a whole could "return to tranquility."

Guanajuato, now the most violent state in Mexico, is the scene of a bloody turf battle between the Jalisco cartel and a local gang.

No motive was given in the attack, but Guanajuato Gov. Diego Sinhue said drug gangs appear to have been involved.

Sinhue condemned the violence in a Twitter post.

"The violence generated by organized crime not only deprives young people of life, but also robs the peace of Guanajuato families," Sinhue wrote.

Mexican drug gangs have killed suspected street-level dealers from rival gangs sheltering at such facilities in the past. The attack Wednesday is one of the deadliest attacks on a rehab center since 19 people were killed in 2010 in Chihuahua city in northern Mexico. More than a dozen attacks on such facilities have occurred since then.

Mexico has long had problems with rehab centers because most are privately run, underfunded and often commit abuses against recovering addicts. The government spends relatively little money on rehabilitation, often making the unregistered centers the only option available for poor families.

In addition, addicts and dealers who face attacks from rivals on the streets sometimes take refuge at the rehab clinics, making the clinics themselves targets for attack. Still, other gangs have been accused of forcibly recruiting recovering addicts at the centers as dealers, and killing them if they refused.

Grupo armado mata 24 homens em Irapuato, no México

Os homens armados irromperam num centro de reabilitação de uma cidade do estado de Guanajuato.

Um grupo de homens armados assassinou 24 pessoas esta quarta-feira na cidade de Irapuato, no estado de Guanajuato, no centron-centro do México.

De acordo com as informações preliminares, às 18 horas, o Sistema de Emergência recebeu relatos de vários tiros disparados num centro de reabilitação da cidade. Além das duas dezenas de mortes, o ataque deixou pelo menos sete feridos, que foram transferidos para centros de assistência.

Os relatórios iniciais indicam que homens armados entraram no centro de reabilitação, num carro, tendo depois obrigado vários detidos a deitarem-se no chão e começaram a executá-los.

Para o local foram enviados membros da Guarda Nacional, da Polícia Municipal, das Forças de Segurança Pública do Estado e da Polícia de Investigação Criminal, bem como equipas das unidades de emergência. O centro onde ocorreu o massacre está agora a ser vigiado pelas autoridades.

De acordo com a imprensa local, a cidade de Irapuato sofreu intensos episódios de violência nos últimos meses

No dia 6 de junho, 10 pessoas foram mortas àss mãos de pessoas armadas. E esse incidente também aconteceu num centro de reabilitação para tóxico-dependentes, no mesmo município.

A 8 de fevereiro de 2 020, outro centro de reabilitação também já tinha sido atacado. Um grupo armado sequestrou cinco pessoas que estavam internadas no local e depois queimaram diferentes edifícios na zona.

No dia 4 de dezembro de 2 019, um grupo de homens armados entrou noutro centro de reabilitação logo ao nascer do sol e sequestrou 25 pessoas internadas no local.

Embora os possíveis autores destes ataques não tenham sido divulgados, suspeita-se que os ataques em Guanajuato possam ter sido levados a cabo pelo Cartel de Santa Rosa de Lima e pelo Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generación. Ambos os grupos ilegais lutam pelo controlo do território naquele estado.
