Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (born September 24, 1989) is a German-Filipino actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crownedMiss Universe 2015.[2][3]
Personal life
Wurtzbach's father is German and her mother is Filipino. She was born in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg. She has a younger sister. She finished her secondary education at ABS-CBN Distance Learning School in Quezon City and studied Culinary Arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies in San Juan, Metro Manila.[4][5][6]
Career
Wurtzbach is a professional model, actress, host and TV personality. She is also a Culinary Arts graduate from the Center for Culinary Studies. At age 4, under the namePia Romero, she worked as an actress and was managed by ABS-CBN's theatrical agency called Star Magic. Among her TV credits are the teen-oriented series K2BU, the concert variety program ASAP, the romance anthologyYour Song, the sitcom show Bora, and the drama series Sa Piling Mo.[6][7][8][9]
She appeared in films such as Kung Ako Na Lang Sana (2003), All My Life (2004), and All About Love (2006).[7][10] At present she is a stylist, makeup artist and beauty writer forInquirer Lifestyle's 2bU section.[4][11]

Binibining Pilipinas
Having previously competed in the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, Wurtzbach took part in the competition for the third time in 2015 where she eventually won Miss Universe-Philippines 2015, succeeding Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa.[12]
Miss Universe 2015
Wurtzbach represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2015 held on December 20, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. At the end of the show, host Steve Harveyannounced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez as the winner. However, after Gutiérrez's crowning, Harvey stated that he had misread the results and that Wurtzbach was the actual Miss Universe 2015. Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega then handed Gutiérrez's crown over to Wurtzbach.[13]
