Anjali Lama is Nepal's first Transgender model and rights activist.Anjali born in Nuwakot(200 KM far from the Capital Kathmandu) and completed school level from village.She came to Kathmandu for further education where eventually with hardship and determination she established herself as a Transgender Model and Activist.
At the age of 12 she realized there is something different within her compared to her male friends.This was really a hard time and kept on thinking why I am attracted with same gender,Is something really wrong with me and why others don't think the way I do.It kept on disturbing her until 2006 when she managed to visit Blue Diamond Society and came to learn from counselor it is normal and people like this exist and came to know about her sexuality.It was an eye-opener for her and there was no looking back to break the silence.A year later she joined Cruise Aids Nepal in HIV/AIDS program where she was involved in sensitization program,orientation,awareness and advocacy of the LGBTI community.
Anjali didn't had a easy run becoming a model despite her pretty look and tall height.She was definitely the 1st from Transgender Community where people weren't much aware and the glam field wasn't ready to give her a break.She started knocking doors to doors from 2007 and kept on trying.In 2008 she got an opportunity to shoot with cyber sansar after which people noticed her and gradually she was taken in consideration.Till date she has participated various shows flaunting different renowned designers from the country.Anjali reckons being a part of Trendsetter(one of the leading runway show from country)was the best part of her modeling career.She has also been featured in various magazine along with cover/cover story of WAVE,WoW,Navyaata magazine.It’s a great medium for Anjali to shine and to be seen.Anjali Lama is now a established name in showbiz and is also the first face of Vishal Kapoor VK(Indian Designer).
