Fire in Sao Paulo devastates slum of over 600 houses

A massive fire has broken out in a downtown slum of the Brazilian city of San Paolo. No deaths have been reported but some residents were affected by smoke inhalation and one firefighter was injured battling the blaze.

Services at two nearby train stations had to be suspended because of the volume of smoke.

Authorities say half of the slum has been destroyed and the families left homeless are set to be taken to shelters. Authorities believe that around 2,500 people live in the community of 600 houses.
