Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner[1] CBE (born 2 October 1951), known by his stage name Sting, is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, actor and philanthropist. Prior to starting his solo career, he was the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist for the rock band The Police.
Sting has varied his musical style throughout his career, incorporating distinct elements of jazz, reggae, classical, New Age, and worldbeat into his music.[2] As a solo musician and member of The Police, Sting has received sixteen Grammy Awards for his work, receiving his first Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1981, three Brit Awards — winning Best British Male in 1994, a Golden Globe, an Emmy Award, and several Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. He is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

【林慧娟╱綜合報導】英國「搖滾詩人」史汀（Sting）將「反璞歸真」（Back to Bass Tour）世界巡演亞洲首站獻給台灣，12月1日將在台北小巨蛋開唱，這是他睽違18年再訪寶島，首度踩「蛋」，門票周日中午開賣。
史汀早年擔任「警察」合唱團主唱，1984年單飛，曲風橫跨搖滾、爵士、古典、流行等領域，專輯累積銷量逾1億張，曾獲16座葛萊美獎肯定。他長年關懷人權、環保議題，被譽為「搖滾詩人」，曾入選「搖滾名人殿堂」，2003年獲英國女王頒發大英帝國勳章。
他1994年曾來台演出，在台北國際會議中心連唱兩場，轟動一時。他11月28日結束貝魯特演唱會，預定隔天直飛台灣，可望停留4天，12月2日轉往香港登台。
「反璞歸真」巡演要讓樂迷體驗史汀的搖滾風采，票價從800元到8800元台幣不等，周日中午12時在玫瑰大眾售票網及全台玫瑰大眾門市開賣，主辦單位「有象文化」強調「僅此一場」，預料將掀起搶票熱潮，詳洽www.g-music.iticket.com.tw。
